During 1842, Inventor Jerome Increase Case established Case within Racine. He started making threshing machines. The company later gained global recognition as the first manufacturer of steam engines for its agricultural application. In time, the company grew to become the world's largest producers of steam engines.
Case had established themselves in the construction equipment business by 1912. They became a manufacturer of road building equipment including steam rollers and road graders. Case grew their construction machine business through various acquisitions, starting with the American Tractor Corporation during the year 1957. Case had expanded their business by the middle part of the 1990s to become the top producer of medium-sized to light-sized construction machinery.
Case merged with the company New Holland in 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This company became responsible for advertising several of the globe's leading brands of agricultural and construction machinery.
Case has been responsible for a lot of industry firsts, while continuing to this day to take a role creating new solutions and products for the materials handling industry.
