The Carriage
The carriage is like a typical forklift since the lifting attachment can be tilted forwards and backwards from its horizontal. The tilt which is possible on this machine exceeds more than that of the vertical masts. There are various kinds of available lifting attachments, and this ability to position makes them as effective as possible.
Nearly all telehandlers could tilt forward to a point where the carriage is actually parallel with the ground believe it or not! In addition, many models provide rotating carriages also. This allows the operator to adjust the lifting attachment radially. This translates to the load being capable of being tilted backwards and forwards, as well as side to side.
Load Capacity
Knowing the load capacity of a telehandler is a a lot different exercise than it is on a vertical mast model. The capacity of the unit is completely dependent on such things as: the amount of boom transaction deployed, if this is applicable and boom extension and angle, whether the unit is lifting on outriggers or on rubber tires. Moreover, which lifting attachment plays a very important part, as does the wind, the grade the equipment is operating on etc. All of these specifics could be changing constantly and this gives the operator much more information to consider.
Usually, telehandlers have several load charts available in order for the operator to reference so they can determine the load capacity of a certain lift. Depending on the boom's configuration and the unit in particular, the load capacity could vary by thousands of pounds all together.
