Different Kinds of Aerial Lift
A particular type of heavy machine which enables a person to be lifted into the air is aerial lifts. These machinery are typically used to complete repairs on areas that are high up in the air such as on roofs, near street-light fixtures and power lines. Similar to most devices, there are various types of aerial lifts that could be utilized to complete a variety of tasks. For the utmost safety, every type of different type of machine needs proper training and specific qualifications before using it.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are normally referred to as Genie lifts. They are considered the most basic kind of aerial lift. These lifts are made of a platform which is lifted up using pneumatic power and are mainly utilized for indoor applications. Normally, scissor lifts are the safest kind of lift models. When completely compressed, these scissor lifts can be driven similar to big carts. Normally, when the platform is extended, they are not able to be driven for safety reasons. Before anybody can use these devices, workers should be certified as operators.
Boom Lifts
Compared to a scissor lift, boom lifts are a lot more complex type of aerial lift machine. A boom lift has a wide base in order to keep the lift anchored. It uses a jointed arm which has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box situated in the bucket that allows the operator to lower and lift the bucket. Because the arm of the boom is jointed, it can move from side to side also. The boom lift resembles a tail of a metal scorpion. Traditionally, it is utilized in construction applications outdoors. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to operate than scissor lifts, hence, operators must be certified separately for these types of lifts.
