Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries in 1966, after he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift that functioned on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" that was utilized to raise and lower the hoist. This device really impressed clients and thus, the name was born.
Genie has moved into many new markets, since the demand for work platforms and lifts grew. Over time, as the requirements for new machines to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself known in many new markets. For instance, Genie went into manufacturing stick booms, telehandlers, man-lifts, articulated booms and light towers.
Due to the economic slump in the start of the 2000s, Genie decided to acquire a partner who held the same values. They partnered up along with Terex Corporation. This company has a history acquiring machine manufacturers throughout the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
During the first years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, due to the name's solid reputation in the marketplace. Thus, all Genie machines continue to be marketed under the Genie brand name.
Genie takes pride in listening to their customers. The company is devoted to continually improving quality and efficiency and is also committed to minimizing waste. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on offering outstanding support. These are the very work practices that have made Genie a trusted brand name over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality equipment.
Genie's Bi-Energy and DC machines are emission-free, quiet machinery capable of working in delicate work environments. Where the machinery needs to be driven significant distances, like within industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the benefits of a 48V DC machine along with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Compared to any of the different types of aerial platforms, telescopic booms provide greater horizontal reach overall. These machines are great for limited access places in construction and other industrial settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to offer utmost productivity. These machinery provide the drive speed and supreme traction you need in order to travel around the work site and job area.
