Forklift Tire Specs
Forklifts have been an important tool within commercial businesses and industry ever since 1917. Throughout its history the forklift has changed through different kinds, from a simple tractor with an attached platform to a specialized high-tech machinery. Forklift tires have also evolved into particular tires, with various types designed to meet specific functions.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is constructed of solid polyurethane or rubber and is suitable for indoor applications on smooth surfaces. The tread of a cushion tire is bonded or pressed onto the steel ring of the tire. Cushion tires are rated for different load capacities and for ease of steering. Cushion tires are usually used within warehouse atmosphere.
Pneumatic Tires
Pneumatic forklift tires are filled with air or foam. They are available in two kinds: radial or bias. Depending upon the use, they come with various sidewall protection, tread depths and weight. Pneumatic forklift tires that are filled with foam are less prone to punctures and maintain constant pressures. Pneumatic tires are commonly used outdoors on rough, uneven surfaces.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
The comfortable ride which pneumatic tires provide together with the puncture resistance that solid tires provide are the combined features of Solid Pneumatic Hybrid Tires. They are a good alternative to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Big rubber tires, which could either be foam, solid or pneumatic, are used on wheel loader forklifts. These kinds of tires are best for moving and loading bulk things into processing equipment or onto trucks. Large flotation pneumatic tires are best for masted rough terrain forklifts commonly used at auto recyclers, lumberyards and construction locations.
